Let’s Talk About Family Photos
If the thought of family photos makes you picture chaos—toddlers refusing to smile, siblings bickering, or trying to get everyone looking at the camera at once—you’re not alone.
Here’s the good news: family sessions don’t have to be stressful. In fact, they can actually be fun (yes, even with little ones involved). As your Abilene family photographer, my job is to make the whole process easy and enjoyable—for kids, parents, and everyone in between.
Toddlers, Wiggly Kids & Shy Personalities
I know what you’re thinking: “What if my toddler refuses to sit still?” or “My child takes forever to warm up to new people.”
That’s okay! Family sessions aren’t about forcing stiff smiles or perfect behavior. They’re about capturing your kids’ personalities as they are—giggles, wiggles, silly faces, and all.
Here’s how I help little ones shine during photos:
- Play over poses: I’ll give fun prompts and activities so they’re too busy laughing to realize they’re “posing.”
- Breaks are welcome: Sometimes we pause, let them run, or snuggle with mom or dad—and those often end up being the sweetest shots.
- Zero pressure: Your kids don’t have to be “perfect.” In fact, I prefer the authentic moments that come from letting them be themselves.

Families & Groups (Without the Stress)
Family photos with multiple people can feel overwhelming—getting everyone to cooperate, finding flattering angles, and keeping the energy light. That’s where I step in.
Here’s how I make group sessions easy:
- Clear direction: I’ll guide you into natural groupings so no one feels lost or awkward.
- Movement-based prompts: Instead of forcing everyone to freeze, I’ll keep things moving so your smiles are genuine.
- Variety in shots: We’ll get the full group together, but also smaller combinations—siblings, parents, kids—so you walk away with a well-rounded gallery.
A quick note about group size: I specialize in immediate families (parents + kids). I don’t photograph extended family sessions (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.), because my focus is on creating a relaxed, intimate experience for your core family.

The Heart of Family Photos
At the end of the day, family photos aren’t about everyone looking “perfect” at the same time. They’re about connection, love, and preserving the little moments that matter most—whether that’s your toddler’s mischievous grin, the way your kids look up at you, or the laughter that erupts during a sibling tickle fight.
