For The Abi Girls is a relationship-driven, integrity-led, experience-first photography community for Abilene-area women photographers. This community was created to strengthen the Abilene photography community by providing a space specifically for women photographers in Abilene and the surrounding areas.
What began as a simple desire for genuine connection has grown into something intentional and steady, a space built on collaboration over competition, creative work rooted in authenticity, and growth that feels thoughtful rather than rushed.
In an industry that can sometimes feel isolating or overly saturated, this community was created to feel grounded. Safe. Rooted.
A place where women photographers can build real relationships, grow their craft with confidence, and be part of something that values integrity as much as talent.

For The Abi Girls didn’t begin with a business plan. It began with a moment of honesty.
When I first started my photography business, a space like this didn’t exist. I remember feeling the quiet loneliness that can come with building something on your own. I wanted friends in the industry who understood, who could talk all things photography, and who simply got it.
One afternoon, I shared a simple Instagram story asking if any local photographers might want to start a group chat. I wasn’t launching anything. I was simply hoping for connection. A few “yes” responses turned into a small group text. I named it For The Abi Girls. At the time, it was just a space to share ideas, celebrate wins, ask questions, and encourage one another in the in-between moments of building our businesses.
That little group grew slowly at first, then quickly. The conversations deepened. The support became steady. Eventually, the group text needed more room to grow, so I created a Facebook group.
What I thought would simply be a more organized space for conversation quickly became something deeper. Women began sharing their work, asking thoughtful questions, celebrating one another, and showing up with generosity and care. It wasn’t just messages anymore, it was real connection taking shape.
What started as a handful of women in a text thread blossomed into a local community rooted in trust, shared experience, and a genuine desire to see one another grow.
I don’t believe starting something is enough. I believe in stewarding it well — protecting the heart of it and creating space for it to grow in a way that feels thoughtful and aligned.
From a quiet idea to a thriving local community, For The Abi Girls has grown with intention and continues to be guided by the same heart that started it.

As the community continued to grow, another creative voice stepped in to help shape what For The Abi Girls was becoming.
Chelsea stepped into the story of For The Abi Girls during an important season of growth, helping shape the creative heartbeat of the community as it continued to evolve.
From dreaming up styled shoots to collaborating on gatherings and ideas, she has played a meaningful role in bringing creative experiences and connection to the women inside this space.
She shows up with intention, creativity, and a steady presence that helps keep this community grounded and aligned.
Her heart for community and genuine connection is woven into so much of what we're building together.

For The Abi Girls exists to support and connect women photographers within the Abilene, Texas creative community.
We believe meaningful connection begins close to home, in the conversations, collaborations, and creative partnerships formed within our own city.
For The Abi Girls exists to strengthen the local photography community by investing in it intentionally, thoughtfully, and with integrity. Not for quick growth, but for lasting impact.
