If you had asked me in January what this year would look like, I would’ve given you the easy answer — a year filled with sessions, storytelling, community events, and a whole lot of golden hour.
But the truth is… 2025 unfolded in a way I never expected.
Not louder, not busier — but deeper. Softer. Sharper in the ways I needed.
And looking back now, I can feel the shift in who I became both behind the camera and within my own creative heart.
This year changed me — and I didn’t see it coming.
The Quiet Lessons I Didn’t Know I Needed
Some lessons arrive gently. Others arrive like a lightning bolt.
This year brought me both.
I learned that growth doesn’t always look like bigger numbers, more bookings, or louder moments. Sometimes it’s something inward — a feeling, a boundary, a shift in the way you move through your art.
2025 taught me patience.
It taught me discernment.
It taught me what I want to carry forward… and what I’m ready to release.
I learned that slowing down isn’t losing momentum — it’s finding clarity.
That protecting your creative spark is necessary, not selfish.
And that your art evolves the moment you do.
Finding My Voice Again
Somewhere between the busy moments, the booked months, the styled shoots, and the mentorships, I felt something stirring — a pull back to the “why” behind all of this.
This year reminded me that photography isn’t just work for me.
It’s memory-keeping.
It’s softness.
It’s storytelling.
It’s healing.
I felt myself reconnecting with the emotional side of my craft — the side that sees the tiny in-between moments, the side that chases nostalgia, the side that remembers how fragile and fleeting every season of life is.
2025 helped me step back into my own voice…
and I didn’t realize how much I needed that.

The Power of Boundaries, Clarity, & Taking Back My Power
Another unexpected lesson: clarity.
Clarity in my business.
Clarity in my community.
Clarity in my brand.
This year taught me that protecting what you’ve built isn’t “dramatic.”
It’s responsible.
It’s honoring the work you’ve poured into the last six years.
It’s making sure your creativity stays yours — rooted, original, nurtured, and true.
And woven into all of that was something even deeper:
I learned how to take back my power.
Not by being louder or tougher — but by being clearer.
By standing firm in my worth.
By trusting my instincts.
By honoring the voice and vision I’ve spent years building.
2025 reminded me that power isn’t something you wait to be given…
it’s something you reclaim.
Slowly, gently, firmly — one boundary at a time.
These lessons shaped me into a more grounded photographer,
a stronger leader,
and a more intentional creator.
Sometimes boundaries are painful.
But they also bring freedom.
Community, Connection, & The Heart Behind It All
If there’s one theme that found its way into every month this year, it was community.
For The Abi Girls — the original women’s photography group in Abilene — grew, evolved, expanded, and transformed in ways I couldn’t have imagined when I first started it.
We hosted shoots.
We created a safe space for connection.
We cheered each other on.
We celebrated wins — big and small.
We didn’t just gather — we built something real. From monthly styled shoots to educational hangouts, from community celebrations to editing hangouts and headshot swaps, For The Abi Girls became more than a group this year. It became a safe space to learn, grow, collaborate, and feel supported. Every event, every conversation, every idea poured into it made 2025 feel fuller and more connected than any year before.
And every time I planned an event or stepped into a meetup or watched photographers support one another… I felt this warm reminder:
Community is powerful when it’s built with intention.
2025 reminded me that I’m not walking this creative life alone.
And neither is anyone reading this.
The Sessions That Stayed With Me
I could talk forever about the sessions that shaped my year — the soft, golden engagements… the families welcoming new chapters… the seniors stepping into adulthood… the couples wrapped up in their own quiet magic.
But what I didn’t expect was how deeply some of these moments would sit with me long after the gallery was delivered.
A glance.
A laugh.
A tiny, fleeting second that felt like it mattered.
Those are the images that stay with me — the ones that remind me why I do this.
This year, those moments felt louder.
More important.
More cherished.
2025 deepened the way I see people — and the way I photograph them.

Looking Ahead to 2026
As I close out 2025, I’m stepping into 2026 with more clarity, more softness, and a heart ready for whatever’s ahead.
More storytelling.
More intentionality.
More community moments.
More creative direction.
More depth behind the lens.
This year changed me — profoundly, quietly, unexpectedly.
And I’m grateful for every lesson.
If 2025 taught me anything, it’s this:
Your art will grow when you grow.
Your story matters.
And every season leaves its mark in ways you won’t even notice until you’re standing on the other side, looking back.
Here’s to the year that shaped me and the new one waiting to unfold.
Thank you for being part of my journey.
